Sra. de Garcia and her family have recently returned to Kerrville from living in Malaysia. Over the past 24 years she has taught at various schools as an elementary E.S.L./ bilingual and high school Spanish teacher. After receiving a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in Latin American Studies, she moved to El Salvador to do volunteer work where she learned that one of the most powerful ways to make a difference in the lives of others was through teaching. In 1996 Sra. de Garcia became a bilingual teacher and began her teaching career in an inner city Austin school. Being bilingual, she understands what it is like to master the nuances of a new language. She loves teaching and is honored that she has the ability to make a positive impact by teaching the tools to acquire and cherish knowledge. She has traveled and lived all over the world, taught hundreds of amazing children, and has had many adventures. Her experiences abroad have broadened her awareness of not only the world, but also of herself. Sra. de Garcia loves storytelling and uses tales of her adventures to show her students that there is a huge world out there just waiting for them to make a positive impact. In her class they grow as compassionate human beings and become global citizens. Sra. de Garcia believes that each day can be an adventure; it simply depends on how you choose to look at it. In her spare time, she enjoys writing and spending time with her family making art.
