Tivy Girls Basketball Coach Announces Retirement

March 8, 2024) – Tivy High School Girls Head Basketball Coach and Coordinator Christy Dill announced today that she is retiring from coaching and teaching at the end of the school year.

“I take tremendous pride in the Lady Antler Basketball program and all the strong, awesome women it has helped to create,” Dill said.
“I’m honored to have been a part of this S.A.W. factory and I’m honored to be called “coach” by these young women. I will always be their and this program’s biggest fan and supporter.”

Dill has been with KISD for 28 years after starting as an assistant girls basketball coach before taking over the head coach position in 2007. During her tenure, she led the Lady Antlers to an overall 386-188 record in those years, including multiple to the state tournament and multiple playoff appearances.

“I would like to thank Coach Dill for her years of teaching and coaching in KISD,” said Brent Ringo, Superintendent.

“During her time with the district, Coach Dill has helped build a strong girls basketball program while inspiring lifelong learners in the classroom. We appreciate all the service and dedication Coach Dill has shown, and wish her all the best in her next endeavor. She has left an indelible mark as a true legend, influencing countless lives both on and off the court and she will be greatly missed. Coach Dill truly personified TFND.”

Dill was an assistant coach during the first two trips the Lady Antlers made to the UIL State Basketball tournament. As a head coach, she led the Lady Antlers to two more state appearances. In 2021, Dill was named the Girls Athletics Coordinator.

“Coach Dill is one of the best basketball coaches in the state of Texas, men’s or women’s,” said David Jones, Tivy athletic director and head football coach.

“She is a fierce competitor and is the perfect example for our young ladies on how to compete daily to be successful.”

Dill shared the news with her team earlier today.

“I have been blessed beyond measure with a great family, a wonderful circle of friends, and many Lady Antlers.  I’m uncertain what the future holds and change is always hard and at times sad, but I trust in God’s plan,” Dill added.

“As Dr. Seuss said, ‘Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.’ I have a ton of reasons to smile.”
